Brief: Somos Logan Square needed a website to showcase its goals as a community organization.
First Try
Our first attempt was a group effort, utilizing the ideas and wishes of many contributing group-members and the graphic design of a wonderful local artist. Below are some images of rough ideation we did together.
Community members ultimately felt that the right-aligned menu did not feel like a real navigation interface. So, we redesigned!
Second (Current) Iteration
The current site is a collaboration between group leaders who distilled community desire into a cohesive vision for this site.
Successes
We feel that the calls-to-action on this site are particularly prominent, and that the colorscheme is bold and unusual.
Lessons
Scalability of unusal UI is a bit difficult to plan. We have a lot of custom media queries to manage the responsiveness of this site. Planning this ahead a bit better would make for cleaner code.
